A year ago this June, Marc and Julie Bennett hastily organized a virtual workshop named the “Hit the Road Summit” to help new RVers learn about the lifestyle. Now, the Bennetts have announced plans to launch a bigger and better version of the event, aptly named the 2nd Annual “Hit the Road RV Summit & RV Show” scheduled for April 24-25.
Better know among the RVing community by their online moniker “RV Love,” Marc and Julie Bennett are authors, bloggers, YouTubers and course instructors. They have been full-timing for over six years and are regularly featured in mainstream media like the New York Times, CNBC, Fox, CBS, and The Wall Street Journal to provide commentary, advice and tips on the RV life. Their 2018 best-selling book, Living the RV Life – Your Ultimate Guide to Life on the Road,” was published by a division of Simon & Schuster, and a new book about RVing is set to publish any day.
“Last year, we pulled the event together in just a few short weeks as a response to the COVID shutdowns,” Julie Bennett told RVBusiness. “This year, we have a proven model with which to work, a bigger marketing team and budget, and more lead time.”
All of which adds up to a bigger and better event. Last year’s Summit, held in June, drew 4500 participants. “I think that this year, we can attract anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000 individuals, or even more,” Bennett said.
The Summit’s core will remain educational, focusing on aiding both newbies and experienced RVers get the most out of their RV. While the curriculum is still being put together, topics will include insights about traveling on a budget, staying fit and healthy on the road, the van life, and a virtual RV show with RV dealer participation.
A post-Summit survey showed that RV maintenance, upgrades, and understanding of your RV’s systems were areas Summit participants wanted to learn more about. To this end, the 2021 event will include technical experts that can help fill this need. The 2021 HIT THE ROAD RV SUMMIT and RV SHOW will expand from one day to two full days to accommodate the additional content. According to Bennett, a new technology platform will make the experience easier to use and much more enjoyable.
